About ADAM
A teacher wrote the first version of ADAM in 2004 to produce his school's reports. ADAM has been in South African schools since 2006.
Our story
Philip Norton, an Information Technology teacher, wrote the first version of ADAM in 2004. As a young teacher, he had to produce his school's reports at the end of each term, and the software available to schools frustrated him. ADAM grew from that task.
Schools began to use the program, and it was released as ADAM in 2006. In 2011 Philip founded ADAM EduTech to build and support it.
ADAM is a web-based school information management system built for South African schools. Its core function is academic data and its management. ADAM puts academic analysis, and usability for teachers, first. It also meets the needs of school management, administrative staff and technical support staff.
Today ADAM runs in some of the most prestigious and forward-thinking schools in South Africa and across Southern Africa. The people who build it work in schools. Schools using ADAM
We believe
- Outstanding education involves more than academic results. Education is a relationship between pupils, their teachers and their parents.
- Excellent schools use a wide variety of information to make informed decisions about the young men and women that they educate. Bringing that information together is critical.
- Quality teachers need to focus on the pupils in their classrooms, not on learning how to use complex administration systems.
- The education process must be transparent. Good schools are open about what happens in their classrooms, so parents and pupils trust the education process.
