Academics and reporting

ADAM puts academics first. The mark book, the reports and the results analysis are the core of the system, not an addition to a finance system.

A mark book that works in percentages

Teachers record marks in categories that suit your school, such as Standardised Assessment, Continuous Assessment and Examinations. ADAM applies each task's weighting and works out the term mark and the class average.

Several teachers can work in the same mark book through teaching assistants. Embargoed marks stay hidden from summaries until you release them.

Teachers record a mark once. ADAM keeps it for every later analysis.

Deadlines ADAM enforces

A Markbook Entry time frame closes mark capture for all teaching staff on a fixed date. A separate Markbook Editing time frame keeps a short window open for heads of department to make final adjustments. ADAM enforces the deadline everywhere marks can change, including imports, copying from another period, bulk comment rewrites and weighting changes. The dashboard shows it.

A history of every mark change

ADAM records every mark and comment change on an assessment: the old value, the new value, who made the change and when. This includes deletions. Subject heads and management read the history in plain language. A report shows everything one staff member has altered.

Promotion decisions from the National Senior Certificate criteria

ADAM works out promotion decisions from the National Senior Certificate criteria. The promotion schedule lists each pupil's marks and aggregate beside the outcome.

You can generate a promotion schedule for each grade, showing results from all subjects.

Results analysis that finds the pupils who need attention

ADAM does not replace a teacher who helps a struggling pupil. It finds the pupils who need that help sooner.

  • Reports on distinctions and failures.
  • Reports on pupils who improved or dropped significantly, relative to the rest of their grade.
  • Symbol distribution graphs for each class in each grade.
  • Grade rankings on overall aggregate or on single subjects.
  • Excel export for further analysis in a pivot table.

Reports that look like your reports

ADAM builds each report as a PDF, so it looks the same everywhere. We set up your report templates to match your current reports or a new design, including letterhead and special front covers.

The reporting system saves comments and marks as teachers enter them. Each reporting period shows its year, and the editor warns you when a slot points at a different year.

Admission Point Scores for university entry

Working out the admission points a matriculant earns at different universities is slow, manual work. ADAM does it.

ADAM comes with calculations for a general National Senior Certificate score and for several universities, including the University of Pretoria, Wits, Stellenbosch and UCT. Your school can create its own variations for internal awards.

You can preview a score for one pupil, list scores for a whole grade with an Excel export, and place scores on report templates. Each built-in calculation carries a reminder to check it against the university's current prospectus.

Classes that keep their history

A class profile collects the class details, the teacher, the enrolled pupils, absentees and reporting progress on one page. It also shows a timeline of how the class changed during the year: who taught it, where it met and how much teaching time it had. Staff with the right permission can correct a past entry. ADAM warns you before a change affects a report that you have already published.

You can enrol one pupil into several classes, or several pupils into one class. Any type of group works, including scratch lists for any set of pupils.

Optional comment summaries

If your school enables it, ADAM can summarise the educator comments on a pupil's record into one overview. The overview highlights the strengths, weaknesses and improvements that several teachers mention.

See ADAM with your own school in mind

A demonstration takes 90 minutes, online, with the people who build ADAM. A quotation is based on the number of pupils at your school and the number of phases your school offers.
